Tupas Elementary School was Tupas Primary School before. It was constructed during the time of Hon.Cepriano A. Bato as the Barangay Captain of Tupas, Manjuyod, Negros Oriental in the district of Manjuyod where the school is located.
It was constructed in the account that parents of this barangay during the assembly of the barangay requested the barangay captain if there is a chance of opening of a school in their barangay they are willing to send their children in this barangay school. The parents felt the safety of their children because they’ll not cross the highway where Central School is located.
The barangay captain coordinated with the district supervisor of Manjuyod District that a space in the barangay is available for a school construction.
It was contructed in the last quarter of the year in 1986. A 2CL Bagong Lipunan Building arosed in 691 sq.m land area of the barangay site of Tupas.
The opening of classes in Tupas Primary School started in School Year 1987-1988 as extension of Manjuyod Central School. It started with 1 teacher handling 2 classes. Mrs. Maria Luz A. Gonzales was handling Grade I and Grade II classes. In Grade I, it has 33 pupils and Grade II has 21 pupils a total of 54 pupils. The next school year grade III is added handled by the husband of the said teacher in grade I & II.
Tupas Primary School became Tupas Elementary School during the time of Mrs. Emelda R. Cuid as the teacher –in-charge in school year 2005-2006. The 1st year of Tupas Elementary School is quite a sacrifies because there were 2 regular teachers who handled the six classes. It was in the next quarter where the school was given teacher aides.
Makeshift room catered the other grade levels of this school. The next 2 years the school was given an additional teacher. Every year an additional teacher is given making 5 regular teachers for the next 3 years of the school. This time grade V & grade VI is the multigrade class. This time was still under Mrs. Cuid now a principal 1 in year 2008-2009.
In 2010, construction of 1cl funded by DPWH was constructed. This time the school was still under a teacher-in-charge. She is Mrs. Marilyn R. Enriquez.
In 2014, 29th of September, an additional teacher is assigned in the school.
Now, the school has 3 classrooms from Deped, makeshift rooms and 6 teachers to handle Kinder to Grade VI classes under the supervision of a teacher-in –charge.
Tupas Elementary School is located at Tupas, Manjuyod, Negros Oriental.
It is situated in Lot No. 1285 with these boundaries:
North: Lot No. 1285-A, 1285-B1 & B2
East: Lot No. 1283
South: Malvar St.
West: Lot No. 1287
Land Area: 691 sq.m.
This lot is purchased from a resident of Tupas, Manjuyod , Negros Oriental in the barangay fund, during the time of Hon. Cepriano A. Bato as the barangay captain.
The school was constructed in this barangay site to answer the need /request of Tupasanon parents claiming the safety of their young school children in crossing the highway to the Central School.
The barangay captain saw this risk of the children, so with his leadership a school arosed in this site.
